New album releases 2025 are already shaping the sound of the year, with standout singles and major returns across multiple genres this week.


Prolapse – “Cha Cha Cha 2000”

Reuniting after more than two decades, Prolapse returns with the biting single “Cha Cha Cha 2000.” Known for their angular post-punk sound and sprechgesang delivery, the British band will release I Wonder When They’re Going to Destroy Your Face on August 29 via Tapete Records.


Oberbaum – “Solitude”

Belgian artist Lucie Rezsöhaz, under the moniker Oberbaum, introduces “Solitude,” the first single from her upcoming album I Should Be Softer (September 5). Produced by Katie Von Schleicher, it’s a reflective, piano-driven indie pop gem.


Sydney Sprague – “Flat Circle”

Sydney Sprague previews her upcoming album Peak Experience (out September 26) with “Flat Circle,” a melancholic yet catchy track that sets the tone for the project.


Sarah McLachlan – “Better Broken”

Sarah McLachlan’s first new album in over a decade, Better Broken, arrives September 19 on Concord. The emotional title track is out now, marking a powerful return since 2014’s Shine On.


Mydreamfever (Parannoul) – Silence is the New Noise

The prolific artist behind Parannoul launches a new series under the alias Mydreamfever, beginning with Silence is the New Noise—the first of several albums planned every two months.


Runnner – “Get Real Sleep”

Ahead of the August 29 release of A Welcome Kind of Weakness via Run For Cover, Runnner shares “Get Real Sleep,” a soft and introspective cut steeped in lo-fi textures.


Perturbator – “Apocalypse Now” (feat. Ulver)

French synthwave artist Perturbator teases his upcoming album Age of Aquarius (October 10, Nuclear Blast) with “Apocalypse Now,” featuring vocals from Ulver’s Kristoffer Rygg.


Crypt Sermon – “Only Ash and Dust”

Philadelphia doom outfit Crypt Sermon unveils “Only Ash and Dust,” the first track from Saturnian Appendices, a B-sides EP from last year’s The Stygian Rose, dropping August 8 via Dark Descent.


Anamanaguchi – “Magnet”

Known for their chiptune roots, Anamanaguchi goes full alt-rock with “Magnet,” a new single from the upcoming album Anyway. Think 8-bit meets Blue Album-era Weezer.


King Yosef – “Molting Fear”

Industrial artist King Yosef returns with “Molting Fear,” the lead single from Spire of Fear, due out August 15 via Bleakhouse. It’s heavy, raw, and punishing.


WHY? – “Circles” (Mac Miller Cover)

Indie experimentalists WHY? deliver a tender, unconventional tribute to Mac Miller with a heartfelt cover of his song “Circles.”


Vandoliers – “You Can’t Party With the Lights On”

Texas-based Vandoliers team up with Joshua Ray Walker and Taylor Hunnicutt on this lively single from their new record Life Behind Bars, out Friday, June 27.


The Besnard Lakes – “In Hollywood”

Montreal’s psych-rock veterans The Besnard Lakes share “In Hollywood,” the lead track from their forthcoming seventh studio album.


Daffo – “Habit”

Daffo debuts “Habit,” the first single from their newly announced full-length album Where the Earth Bends—an introspective exploration of change and emotion.


No Joy – “Bits”

“Bits,” the second single off No Joy’s Bugland, delivers an ethereal blend of Cocteau Twins-style harmonies and sludgy shoegaze guitar lines.


Blood Orange – “The Field” ft. Caroline Polachek & The Durutti Column

Dev Hynes (aka Blood Orange) collaborates with Caroline Polachek and the legendary Vini Reilly of The Durutti Column on “The Field.” With delicate nylon-string guitar work and dreamy production, it’s a standout track.
