Noah Kahan’s The Great Divide continues to dominate the charts as the singer-songwriter’s latest album spends a third consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The achievement marks a major milestone for the “Stick Season” singer-songwriter. According to Billboard chart history, it is the first rock album to remain at the top of the Billboard 200 for three straight weeks since Mumford & Sons accomplished the feat with Babel in 2013.
For solo rock artists, the accomplishment is even more significant. The last solo artist to keep a rock album at No. 1 for at least three weeks was Jack Johnson with Sleep Through the Static in 2008.
While The Great Divide has crossed into pop audiences through appearances on the Billboard Hot 100 and various pop charts, the project is officially recognized within the rock category due to its eligibility and performance on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart.
Kahan reacted to the chart’s success on Instagram Stories while joking about a recent soccer game.
The Vermont artist shared that he had just gotten his “a** kicked” on the soccer field by a “bunch of 47-year-old guys,” before celebrating the continued success of the album.
“Third week at #1 on the Billboard 200! So, y’know, all is well,” Kahan said. “Very, very grateful. Very excited, can’t believe I’m still at #1. It’s crazy.”
He also thanked fans for continuing to stream and purchase the album, crediting supporters for helping keep The Great Divide at the top of the charts.
“You guys are amazing,” Kahan added. “It’s all ’cause of you guys streaming and buying and just being dope.”
The singer ended the update by joking that he may need to “hit the treadmill” to get back into soccer shape.
