Sepultura’s final North American concert featured a special guest behind the drum kit: Dave Grohl.
The Foo Fighters frontman joined the Brazilian metal band at The Wiltern in Los Angeles to perform “Kaiowas” from their 1993 album Chaos A.D. Fan-shot footage of the performance is available on YouTube.
The concert marked not only the final date of Sepultura’s North American tour but also the band’s last performance in North America. The group’s ongoing farewell tour will conclude with its final career performance on Nov. 7 in São Paulo, Brazil.
Also appearing on the bill will be Metal Allegiance, the all-star project featuring members of Dream Theater, Testament, Mastodon, and other bands.
Sepultura was founded in 1984 by brothers Max Cavalera and Iggor Cavalera, though neither is currently a member of the band. Guitarist Andreas Kisser recently told Metal Hammer that he invited the Cavalera brothers to participate in Sepultura’s final concert, but they declined.
Former members Jean Dolabella and Jairo Guedz are scheduled to perform at the farewell show.
