Chuck Mangione death was confirmed Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The Grammy-winning jazz flugelhornist, best known for his 1977 instrumental hit “Feels So Good,” died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Rochester, New York, according to his family and attorney. He was 84.
CBS News reports that Mangione passed from natural causes, closing the book on a legendary six-decade career that helped bring jazz fusion to mainstream audiences.
A two-time Grammy Award winner and 14-time nominee, Mangione shot to international fame with “Feels So Good,” which reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1978. His accolades also include Grammys for “Bellavia” in 1977 and “Children of Sanchez” in 1978.
Beyond the studio, Mangione made a lasting mark on cultural moments with original compositions, such as “Give It All You Got,” the theme song for the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. He also had a recurring animated cameo as himself on the hit series King of the Hill.
Born in 1940 in Rochester, Mangione maintained a lifelong connection to his hometown. He was inducted into the Rochester Music Hall of Fame in 2012.
In a statement, Mangione’s family requested privacy and encouraged fans to honor his legacy by listening to his music.
