Evanescence Afterlife Billboard #1 is now official, as the band claims its first #1 hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart with the single “Afterlife.”

The track, featured in Netflix’s animated Devil May Cry series, gives Amy Lee and her bandmates a long-awaited chart milestone. Previously, Evanescence peaked at #5 with “Call Me When You’re Sober” in 2006. Even their iconic 2003 breakout, “Bring Me to Life,” only reached #11 on the same chart.

The 22-year stretch between their first appearance on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart and this new #1 achievement is the second-longest wait in chart history, just behind Jeff Beck, who waited 37 years before hitting #1 in 2022 with Ozzy Osbourne on “Patient Number 9.”

“Afterlife” follows the band’s 2021 album The Bitter Truth and coincides with a new collaboration: “Fight Like a Girl” with K.Flay, featured in the upcoming John Wick spinoff film Ballerina.
