This version was recalled by the distributor shortly after its release due to the lyrics’ depiction of sex and violence and ultimately led to the dissolution of the Def American’s distribution agreement with [l=Geffen Records].

Following its release, [a=Steve Miller] became aware that “Gangster Of Love” (A4) contained a sample of the track “[m=191435]” and, along with Capitol Records, filed suit thereafter. The parties ultimately settled for $50,000 and a guarantee that the sample would not appear on future pressings. Consequently, subsequent versions of this album can be differentiated by the audio of “Gangster Of Love”, which replaced the [a=Steve Miller Band] sample with [a=Lynyrd Skynyrd]’s “[url=https://www.discogs.com/Lynyrd-Skynyrd-Sweet-Home-Alabama-/master/70589]Sweet Home Alabama[/url]”.
